Experience has taught me with guidance, accountability, and a work ethic of champions you can achieve your brand building and business goals using best practices I’ve culled from corporate branding, digital media, brand marketing, communications and advertising over the last fifteen or so years. Right, I’m no rookie at this game, and sprinkling a little magic dust to spark transformation for clients is my thing!
During my career, I’ve worked for some of the country’s largest media companies in traditional and digital media: Clear Channel Communications now iHeart Media, CBS Television (Atlanta), and iHeart Media (for a second run) in Media Sales. As a General Sales Manager at Clear Channel, I was responsible for training and managing my team, managing media assets, marketing, building corporate and community partnerships, and growing revenue for the media properties. My sales team and I serviced major advertising agencies in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Miami, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Tampa, and Atlanta. Having worked extensively with top advertising agencies, PR firms, marketing directors, entertainment executives, sports franchises and business principals, I acquired a unique niche for identifying and accommodating brands’ need analysis; while, creating and executing corporate sponsorship programs, matching communication channels with the brands’ initiatives, and managing strategic partnerships.
In 2011, after thirteen years of absorbing everything I could about marketing, advertising, and branding principles; I launched Urbanity Communications. Urbanity is a boutique- brand strategy, advertising, and marketing consulting firm. My experience in media sales expand across all sectors of media and includes account management experience in radio, digital, and outdoor display for Clear Channel and iHeart Media; and television and digital sales for CBS Atlanta. I have media sales management experience in radio, digital, and event sponsorship for Clear Channel; and as a consultant for Uptown Magazine. I oversaw sales and marketing opportunities for Uptown magazine in print, digital and event sponsorship campaigns in Atlanta.
My day-to-day obligations involve strategic planning, brand marketing, corporate sponsorships, advertising and/or personal branding opportunities; while managing those deliverables with aligned external affairs. Urbanity Communications clients have included: Wade Ford (three dealer group/ largest AA Ford franchise), The Wade Ford Summer Concert Series (3-5 concerts annually), Steven R. In 2014, I was brand manager of Art Is Love, Love Is An Art, a coffee table book dedicated to the art of Anthony Liggins. The book went on to win the 2014 GDUSA American Graphic Design Award. Later in 2014, marrying my career expertise with a passion for empowering women, I birthed TheBGuide.com, my personal lifestyle blog that shares a stylish capture of my favorite fashion trends, beauty discoveries, and everyday lifestyle hacks.
In 2015, I served as a committee member for Ford Motor Company’s Immersion Program, designed to take an intimate exploration into the lives of African Americans as a unique consumer segment; and was featured in the Atlantan magazine as one of ” Atlanta’s Women of Power & Influence.” Also in 2015, I served a presenter for Public Relations Society of America’s Regional Collegiate Conference and presented on personal branding; and sat on a personal branding panel for The Pink Power Conference. I launched and hosted the Dream Big Conference, an annual women’s entrepreneur, and influencer conference.
In 2016, I expanded to work with digital entrepreneurs and influencers throughout the country helping them grow and leverage their brands. I created services to provide the same high-quality services I’d previously offered companies, but with less face-to-face commitments. I began the Make Your Mark Series and co-presented Brand.Build.BlowUp during the 8th Annual Blogalicious Weekend. In 2017, I published and toured a ten-city national conference circuit with my first book, Make Your Mark: Personal Branding Through “On-Purpose” Living.
In 2018, I launched TheBrandista.Com, a personal brand development, and online business building website that helps solopreneurs, new online entrepreneurs, and change-makers build authority; package, brand, market and sell their expertise online.
I’m a shoe snob, dream chaser, and passion pusher. I believe dreams are only born to become realized. I’m a repeat presenter for the state of South Carolina’s Victim’s Advocacy Week; a 2014-2016 Georgia Entertainment Gala, Marketing Committee Member; and 2014-2016 member of the National Black Arts Festival, Gala Committee. I’m an alumnus of Atlanta’s Jezebel magazine “50 Most Beautiful.” One professional degree reads, Bachelor of Arts in mass communications from Morgan State University and the other, Master of Arts in Integrated Communications from the University of Baltimore. I’m a graduate of the Small Business Administration’s Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore (WEB) entrepreneurial program.
